When you think of taking a girls trip, chances are you envision lying on the beach somewhere drinking Prosecco. But if you are the type of person who would rather be found outdoors skeet shooting or driving an ATV, I have a trip for you! At Barnsley Resort in Georgia they have created a fun outdoor alternative to the typical spa vacations to help you unleash your inner Annie Oakley!
The Location
Situated on roughly 3,000 acres of land, Barnsley Resort is located just 60 miles from Atlanta, Georgia which makes it the ideal spot for a weekend getaway.
Lodging
When it comes to lodging, there are two options as to what type of room you can stay in. The first, and my personal favorite, is the option to stay in one of the many cottages on the property. When you stay in the cottages, you have your own suite with an outdoor porch. The second option is to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms within the Inn. You really cannot go wrong! If you are looking to feel like you are vacationing in a cabin in the woods, I would suggest staying in the cottages. But if you are looking for the traditional hotel room feel, I would suggest staying in the Inn.
The Amenities
While there are a pool and spa located on the property, Barnsley offers its guests so much more! From horseback riding to clay shooting to a southern ATV safari ride, Barnsley is a paradise for anyone looking for an outdoor adventure.
The Food
You would be hard pressed to find a better meal anywhere else in the world. While the resort does specialize in southern comfort food, they also have many great options for those who are vegetarian or have food allergies. Not only that, but the majority of the food is fresh and locally sourced.
The Staff
One of the things that makes the Barnsley Resort stand out is the staff. Each and every person we met on our trip was not only friendly but genuinely loved their jobs. From helping to detangle a girl’s skirt when she got it caught in her bicycle to helping us find bug spray when they noticed we did not have any, the staff at Barnsley resort goes above and beyond to make sure that their guests are happy.
The History
To top it all off, Barnsley Resort has a rich history behind it and your trip is definitely not complete until you listen to a lecture from the resident historian of the property.
