Where to Stay
The Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora is a great place to call home during your trip to Lake County. This historic inn is located right in the middle of the downtown and is in walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and cafes. Not to mention how charming it is located right on Lake Dora! It is definitely a peaceful place to recharge and relax by the pool after a day of adventure.

1921 Mount Dora
There is no shortage of delicious places to eat in Lake County! If you are looking for a delicious meal, great service, and a beautiful atmosphere, look no further than 1921 Mount Dora! Located just a short walk from the Lakeside Inn, the restaurant boasts about being a feast for your eyes as well as your palette with an extensive art collection for you to explore while waiting for your meal. And for those who are vegetarian like me, the Vegetable Plate is not to be missed!
Goblin Market
If you are looking for a cozy restaurant and a great meal, look no further than the Goblin Market! The restaurant is dimly lit and lined with bookshelves, making it a great spot for date night.
Puddle Jumpers
Located in Tavares, Florida, Puddle Jumpers is a great outdoor spot to watch the sea planes. It is a great place to grab a burger (or veggie burger) and some fries and catch up with a group of friends.
What to Do
Sea Plane Ride
One thing Lake County is known for? Seaplanes! A really fun way to not only see Lake County but also get your adrenaline pumping. Jones Brothers offer many different tours and excursions, including a “splash and dash” and a tour that will take you bar hoping all through Lake County.
Kayak Through the Dora Canal
A perfect way to explore the many water ways of Lake County! Kayak through the Dora Canals and scope out all of the wildlife, including turtles, birds, otters, and even a few gators. And if you find the “haunted” path, don’t worry! It is just a fun sign. No ghosts have been spotted in the canal… yet.
Take a Carriage Ride Through Mount Dora
Olde Mount Dora Carriage Company of a unique treasure of Mount Dora! Explore the downtown area in one of their horse-less carriages and get dropped off to dinner in style.
Get a Little Muddy on a Mucky Duck Ride
A must for any adrenaline junkie! Revolution Adventures offers a unique way to adventure on both land with their “Mucky Duck” vehicles.
See the Sights from the Top of Citrus Tower
An iconic site of Lake County! The Citrus Tower is a great way to get a bird’s eye view of Lake County and the surrounding area. When you go, I highly recommend stopping by the cafe on the ground floor and testing out one of their citrus flavored drinks.
Enjoy Sunset on a Boat Cruise
A highlight of our trip to Lake County! I highly recommend grabbing a group of friends and booking a sunset cruise around Lake Dora with Premier Boat Tours to end your day. The best part? They will pick you up right on the Lakeside Inn dock!
Swim in a Natural Spring
Spend the morning swimming in one of Florida’s natural treasures: Alexander Springs! Located in the Ocala National Forest, Alexander Springs is a great place to bring a float and relax. Or if you are feeling more adventurous, grab a snorkel mask and explore one of the underwater caves.
