For the first time in years, there are limited places that Americans can travel to and even fewer that are safe for travel. In the age of the coronavirus, many are opting to stay local, forgoing international trips in favor of road trips. With so many unknowns, it be intimidating to book a trip. However, there are a few destinations that are taking every precaution necessary to ensure your safety should you choose to travel. If you are planning a vacation in 2020, Aruba is one of the safest places you can visit.
How Aruba is Handling the Virus
As a popular vacation destination, Aruba is taking every precaution necessary to protect both their guests and their residents. Upon arrival, every person entering Aruba has to present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours. Knowing this definitely helped to put me at ease on the flight. For those unable to take a test before arrival, the airport offered testing on site. The only catch is that if you choose to get tested at the airport, you have to quarantine until your results come in. Depending on the length of your vacation that may mean missing out on some prime time in the sun.
Once you leave the airport, many hotels ask you to present your negative Covid results. Our hotel even asked guests to submit to temperature checks every time they left and came back to the property.
Overall, I felt very safe visiting Aruba and was impressed with the way they are handling the virus. For tips on how to fly safely, check out this post.
Where to Stay
During our time in Aruba, we chose to stay at Divi Aruba, an all-inclusive family-friendly resort. Located right on the beach, Divi includes a 2 pools, a spa, watersport activities, and multiple restaurants. It is also in walking distance to a casino and shopping mall. What we loved about this hotel is it offers everything you could possibly need! While we felt safe in Aruba, we also wanted to be respectful of the state the world is currently in and minimize the places went. You could honestly spend a week at this stunning resort and not get bored!
What To Do
During your time in Aruba, I recommend getting outdoors as much as possible! Relax by the beach with a Pina colada in hand. If you are looking to break up your beach days, book a sailing adventure with Red Sail Aruba. Red Sail Sports offers many adventures from snorkeling to sunset cruises. It is a great way to see more of the island.
If you are looking for a safe place to visit for a much needed vacation Aruba is the place! There is a good reason it is referred to as “One Happy Island”!
